Paralympic Cultural Olympiad Project

Shed@ThePark selected for London2012 Paralympic Project.

We're thrilled to have been one of the few charities selected to participate in this large-scale performance project for London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

This special outdoor performance has been commissioned as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, likely to include the Paralympic Closing Ceremony, Paralympic Torch Relay, The Flame Festival at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and the Milton Keynes International Festival.

Award-winning visual artist Rachel Gadesden and Mark Smith, choreographer with Deaf Men Dancing and shortlisted for choreographer of the Year, and Musician - Chas de Swiet, all with disabilities themselves, will be working with our young people to devise the performance.

It's going to be truly inspiring for our members to have the opportunity to work alongside accomplished artists and Paralympic athletes who, like many of them, have had to overcome significant personal challenges in order to live their dreams.

The Performance itself is likely to be a mix of dance, theatre, music, art and film/animation, to celebrate Stoke Mandeville as the Birthplace of the Worldwide Paralympics Movement and showcase the values and achievements of Paralympic Athletes and the dynamics of their sports. We will also be working with schools in other countries across the World. We hope that this project can help to change the perceptions of disability.

We are actively seeking funding to secure additional Artistic Support for this project. Please click here for more information.
