History
The
theatre company began in September 2005 as an outreach project of The
Chickenshed Theatre Company based in Southgate, London, and was
financed through Chesham Park Community College’s Performing Arts
status.
We were incorporated on 19th December 2005 and now provide workshops for over 100 amazing young people.
Shed@ThePark has
adopted Chickenshed’s ethos and continues to develop a creative
process, which includes all its members with equal value.
We do not
ever close doors.
We are committed to each individual, encouraging, inspiring and acknowledging their contributions; these are central tenets of our inclusive approach.
We ensure that everyone counts and everyone can join in. There are those who would usually be at risk of exclusion through factors of health, social development, or ethnic diversity. We make sure that the arts are open to all who wish join.
The Shed@ThePark Company is constituted as a
‘not-for-profit’ charity, which distinguishes it from other theatre
groups in the area, and we received charitable status in June 2006.
It was therefore formed with the intention that it would become self-financing on a sustainable basis, by seeking financial support and sponsorship as a registered charity.
