Shed@ThePark celebrated our 5th birthday in February this year with a performance of 'Colour The World' at the fantastic Wycombe Swan Theatre in High Wycombe.
'ColourThe World' told the story of a theatre company that grew and flourished against the odds, within a small, leafy town. We saw the story unfold, changing the hearts and minds of the people in the town, with some help from visiting pirates, circus clowns and some revolutionaries along the way.
With a professional set-designer on board this year, our story moved through houses, offices, pirate ships and circus tents and we were also able to incorporate a huge variety of elements including multimedia, puppetry, and live music in the show.
The story was co-narrated by two of our members using makaton signing, a skill which they learnt specifically for the show. Over 100 young members of Shed took part in the singing, dancing and acting, supported by our fantastic team of volunteer practitioners on-stage and chaperones backstage.
Our audience of 700 gave a standing ovation and we received fantastic reviews from both audience members and the press – follow the link to see what people had to say!
Children's and Youth Theatre were deservedly proud of their achievement, as were members of our volunteer practitioner team - some of whom were part of our Youth Theatre 5 years ago. To have an opportunity to perform on a stage that accommodates our numbers was wonderful and shows how far Shed has come in the past 5 years. The memories of the whole project and the evening in particular, will stay with everyone involved for a long time to come.
Shed@ThePark is growing fast and after such an incredible night we are very much looking forward to the next 5 years.
Get in touch with us if you would like to get involved in any aspect of our show for next year or if you would like any further information.
